Once upon a time, people always lived in peace. But there once was a bad-tempered and stubborn goat. This stubborn goat always did what it wanted. It never thought about whether its actions were right or wrong. It listened to no one and was obstinate about everything. This stubbornness cost it many things, but it could never give up this habit.

One day, it met a Fox in the forest.

The Fox asked the stubborn goat: "Hey, stubborn Goat! Where are you going like this?" The Goat replied: "I am going to the waterfall on the other side of the forest."

The Fox, knowing the goat was stubborn, decided to play a trick on it: "Brother Goat, when you get to the waterfall, there is a bear's den right at the bottom of the falls. I wonder how you will go there," the Fox said.

The Goat paused for a moment, thought, and then replied: "It doesn't matter, I will still go."

The Fox continued his trick: "What if the bear catches you?" The stubborn Goat said: "It can't do anything. Don't worry about it," stubbornly insisting to the Fox that it would go to the bear's den.

Another idea came to the Fox's mind: "Okay, then you should go to the waterfall by this path. If you go by the other path, thorns will wrap around your legs."

The Goat thought the Fox was trying to mislead it. Therefore, it chose the path the Fox told it not to take. However, the Fox was deceiving it. He showed the Goat the correct path, knowing the Goat would choose the other one.

But because the Goat was stubborn, it took the wrong path and continued to advance, but what did it see? It had come right up to the front of the bear's den! Of course, it didn't know what to do out of fear.

Just as it was about to turn back and leave, the stubborn Goat's foot got tangled in a bush, and it fell with a crash! The Bear woke up from the noise. The Goat started running without looking back.

Just as the Bear was about to catch the Goat, the Lion, the King of the Forest, and his helpers appeared in front of the Bear.

The frightened stubborn Goat told the Lion everything that had happened, one by one. It explained how the Fox had tricked it and how the Bear had chased it, but it never mentioned its own stubbornness or bad temper.

After listening to the Goat, the Lion sent for the Fox. He listened to the events from him as well. The Fox was clever! He told the Lion that he did this only to break the Goat's stubborn habit. He also explained that he had shown the Goat the right way.

The Lion, after listening to both sides, did not punish the Fox but concluded that the Goat was at fault in the situation. He said to the stubborn Goat:

"You must change this bad habit. You need to give up your stubbornness now. Look, the Bear almost caught you! Be thankful that I arrived just in time to help."

As punishment for its stubbornness, the Lion gave the stubborn Goat the task of working in the Fox's service for one week.

In this way, the Goat gave up its stubbornness.
