Bıllız, Son of Illız
Once upon a time, there lived a woodcutter named Bıllız, the son of Illız.
One day, while going to collect wood, he found a thick rope or chain (örken) on the road.
"It might be useful one day," he thought, and tied the rope around his waist.
He walked and walked, over hills and valleys, until he looked back and saw he hadn't gone very far. On the road, he found a discarded drum. The drum was a bit old, but still completely intact.
"This will certainly be useful one day," said Bıllız, the son of Illız, and he hung the drum around his neck and continued his journey.
He walked and walked, over hills and valleys. Suddenly, his foot tripped over a tortoise shell.
"This might also be useful," he thought, and tucked the shell inside his shirt.
Then the weather got very dark, and Bıllız, the son of Illız, could not find a way to return home. He entered the first cave he saw.
When it was past midnight, he heard a growling sound. The cave, it turned out, was the home of a Giant! The Giant came home at midnight. At the entrance of the cave, he growled:
"Hmm! I smell a human! I wonder who is inside."
Bıllız, the son of Illız, shouted from inside:
"I am here!"
The Giant asked:
"Who are you?"
Our hero replied:
"Bıllız, the son of Illız!"
The Giant said:
"Hmm, your name is quite nice. Who knows how handsome you must be! Pull out one hair from your chest and let me see it!"
Our hero immediately took the thick rope ($örken$) from his waist and threw it in front of the Giant.
The Giant was a little startled by the "hair" that looked like a thick cable.
"Now, catch a louse from your head and throw it over! Let me see what it looks like," demanded the Giant.
Bıllız, the son of Illız, this time threw the tortoise shell from his shirt at the Giant.
"Hmm! If your louse is like this, what must you be like? Now, let me hear you roar!" said the Giant.
Our hero immediately started beating the drum: Boom! Boom!
Hearing this, the Giant fled in fear! Bıllız, the clever son of Illız, slept comfortably there all night.
When he woke up in the morning, he saw the Giant's treasure nearby. He carried the treasure home and lived a happy life forever.
