Daughter of Shopper Tale

Once upon a time, there lived a sultan. This sultan had a son who loved hunting. This young man would go hunting every day with his friends, hunt until evening, and return home exhausted. One day, on his way home, the sultan's son passed by a tobacco garden. He saw the tobacconist's daughter working in the garden:

"Tobacco-seller's daughter, tobacconist's daughter, how much does a leaf of tobacco cost?" she asked.

When the tobacconist's daughter saw the boy, she was very impressed. She said to him:

"Here is a sprig of cress for you. My Lord, I will give you to me. If you want tobacco, a leaf costs five lira. If you want to marry me, I say, ask me first; I want you not from you, but from my Almighty Lord."
The sultan's son laughed at this answer, but he also took a great liking to the girl. Every time he returned from hunting, he would pass by the tobacconist's daughter and call out to her. The tobacconist's daughter would answer him in the same way.
The sultan was very pleased with his son's constant hunting. She was complaining. She was constantly searching for a way for him to stay in the palace and rule the country. One day, she said to her wife:

"Wife, if we marry this boy off, maybe his passion for hunting will diminish. I will accustom him to governing the country."

They searched the surrounding area, looking for a girl who would be beautiful, intelligent, and noble. One day, the sultan and his wife went on a walk. Their path passed through a tobacco garden. The sultan's wife saw the tobacconist's daughter from afar and took a liking to her. They asked the girl's father for their daughter's hand in marriage. The tobacconist's father asked his daughter if she would like this marriage. The girl's heart was already set on the boy, but he didn't even know that the boy had asked for his hand in marriage. The girl's father said:

"My Sultan, I cannot give my daughter to your son without your son's consent."

Thereupon, the sultan said:

"If you accept, let's invite you to dinner tomorrow. Let's have a meal together in the palace. My son will come too. If my son wants to marry your daughter, we can try to make things even better." Let's tie the knot, he said.
The tobacconist and his daughter accepted this offer. The next morning, the sultan said to his son, "Son, we've found a suitable girl for you. Your mother and I are very pleased. We invited them to dinner tonight, and we'd like you to dine with us. If you like the girl, let's hold your wedding."
Evening came, and the tobacconist and his daughter came to dinner. The sultan's son was very surprised to see the tobacconist's daughter at the dinner table. He asked with surprise and joy, "How is this possible?"
The tobacconist's daughter said at the table, "I asked for you not from you, but from my Almighty God, remember?"
The boy laughed at the girl's words. His heart was already set on the tobacconist's daughter. The sultan married his son and the girl. The wedding lasted for forty days and forty nights. The sultan's son no longer spent much time hunting; he was now focused on the administration. The lovers were reunited, and the sultan was happy. Their wish came true; let's go to bed."
