The Wolf, The Bird, and The Squirrel

The Wolf, The Bird, and The Squirrel

Once upon a time, there was a brother Wolf and a sister Bird.

This Bird had six little baby chicks in her nest. The mother Bird flew off to find food for her babies, leaving them in the nest. But, sadly, one of the Bird's wings was broken.

The Bird's little babies were crying sadly in the nest because they were so hungry. The mother Bird, with her broken wing, slowly walked and walked until she reached the side of a river. She sat there, thinking about how she would cross the river and crying for her babies.

Suddenly, the tailless Wolf came to the riverbank. He asked the injured Bird: "Why are you crying, my sister Bird?"

The Bird replied: "How can I not cry, my brother Wolf? I flew out of the nest to bring food for my babies, but one of my wings is broken. If I cannot get back to my nest, my babies will die of hunger. There is no one to help me!"

The Wolf felt very sad about this. He said to the injured Bird: "I will help you. Let me bend down, and you can ride on my back. I will carry you across the river."

When the Wolf bent down, the injured Bird climbed onto his back. So, the Wolf carried the injured mother across the river.

Then, the Wolf asked the Bird where her nest was. The Bird said: "It is at the top of that hill across the river."

The Wolf carried the Bird on his back all the way to her tree. But the Wolf could not climb the tree! The Bird was stuck at the bottom of the tree. Her babies were crying in the nest, and the mother Bird was crying at the bottom of the tree.

Suddenly, a Squirrel came along. The Squirrel asked the Bird: "Why are you crying, my sister Bird? What is your problem?"

The injured Bird said: "How can I not cry, my brother Squirrel? I flew out of the nest to bring food for my babies, but one of my wings is broken. Brother Wolf brought me here, but I cannot climb up to my nest. If I cannot reach my nest, my babies will die of hunger. There is no one to help me!"

The Squirrel immediately said: "Don't worry, my sister Bird! I will curl my tail, and you can ride on it. Then, I will climb the tree and take you up to your nest."

The Squirrel carried the injured mother to her nest. The mother Bird fed her babies.

The Squirrel and the Wolf brought food for the mother and her babies until the Bird got well.

When the Bird was healthy again, she thanked her friends. She told them that if they ever needed help, she would happily help them too.

They supported each other for their whole lives and lived peacefully in the forest.
