Read the Chubby Pancake Story

Once upon a time, there lived three old women in a small village. One day, while they were pondering what to make for breakfast, they suddenly thought of making pancakes. They all went into the kitchen together to prepare them.

They began making the Pancake. They mixed flour, milk, and salt to form a dough. Then, they placed the dough in a pan and started to cook it. As the Pancake was cooking, they grew even hungrier. With the fragrant smell of the Pancake filling the air, the women's stomachs began to rumble.

The Pancake did indeed finish cooking, but when it saw the old women, it became very afraid. It did not want to be eaten by them because they were women who never helped anyone and were only devoted to their own pleasures.

First, the Pancake suddenly hopped from the pan and onto the floor, and then it fled the house. When the three women saw the Pancake escape, they began shouting and panicking, but to no avail—the Pancake had already vanished from sight.

In the early hours of a sunny morning, the Pancake was rolling happily along. Suddenly, a cat appeared in front of it. The cat purred softly when it saw the Pancake: "Hello, brother Pancake," it said.

The Pancake cheekily replied: "Hello, Long Whiskers."

"Fat Pancake, please stop. I want to eat you," the cat pleaded.

The Pancake, still rolling, called out: "Go on with you! I just escaped from three old grannies. You won't be able to catch me either!" and it rolled away toward the forest.

The Pancake kept rolling without stopping when it suddenly came across a fox. The fox smiled and said: "Hello, little Pancake."

The Pancake replied: "Hello, Red Fur."

Then the fox licked its lips and said: "Oily, fat Pancake, please stop; take a breath so I can eat you properly."

The Pancake sped up and said: "Go on with you! I escaped from three grannies and one long-whiskered cat. You won't be able to catch me either!" and it fled.

The chubby Pancake encountered many animals along the way but managed to outsmart all of them. The weather was also getting darker. Finally, the Pancake grew tired. Yet, it hadn't found anyone who deserved to eat it.

Eventually, three small children appeared before it. These children were orphaned and completely alone. When the children saw the Pancake, they rejoiced. They said to it sadly and miserably: "Beautiful Pancake, please, we beg you, stop. We have walked all day but couldn't find anything to eat. If you allow us, may we eat you? We are so very hungry."

The Pancake was overjoyed and started bouncing and jumping in place. It was so happy that it could finally be useful and help someone. Therefore, it immediately agreed and jumped into the children's bag. The children sat down somewhere, shared the Pancake, and ate it all up. Thus, both the Pancake and the children went to sleep happily.

Three apples fell from the sky: one for the teller of the tale, one for the listener, and one for those who help people in need.
